SUTP Module 7a – Approaches for Gender Responsive Urban Mobility: Gender and Urban Transport (2007)
This module addresses how gender should be addressed in transport policy and planning. Unsuccessful, inefficient and unsustainable transport can result from a lack of consideration of gender issues. Moreover, transport is often seen as gender neutral – a road or bus system is expected to affect everyone equally. However, urban transport systems are dynamic and are influenced by society, and differences within society must be taken into account (first version by former GTZ).
